This text was originally written as America was preparing to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It was presented on July 4th, 1876, in a small church in Brandon, Vermont where the author of the hymn, Daniel Roberts, was pastor. Later, the song became the official hymn for the National Centennial Observance honoring the adoption of the Constitution. This National Hymn tune is a sincere prayer that God would fill all our lives and this land with His presence.
